Toddlers and pre-schoolers will love coloring rice with Mommy!
Add 2 teaspoons of rubbing alcohol to 1 cup rice (so it dries faster).
Add six drops of food coloring to the rice.
Shake the rice until the color is evenly mixed.
Set the rice in a warm place to dry (about an hour).
Place individual colors in egg cartons or muffin tins.
Dump several colors into a larger bin.
Give kids kitchen tools or sand toys to use in the rice.
Glue coloring sheets and show kids how to make rice mosaics using the individual colors.
Glue the outline of a letter, number, or other shape and have kids sprinkle it with multicolored rice.
Show kids how to dump the excess rice into the bin.
This activity can get messy, so be sure to give clear directions about where the rice is allowed to go.
You may want to consider taking this activity outdoors, if possible.
